KATELYN SPROFERA, PSM
Program Manager & Evaluation Specialist
Katelyn Sprofera has been working with the California Marine Sanctuary Foundation since 2014, utilizing her demonstrated expertise in marine science, social science, communications, graphic design, program evaluations, and event planning to drive CMSF communications, coordinate monitoring and evaluation, and support marine protected area program initiatives. She is passionate about combining ecological and social sciences to define the ways humans value, use and depend on the marine environment, and identifying ways to integrate the human dimension into natural resource decision-making in California. By understanding human-natural system interactions, we can seek solutions that sustain the environment, livelihoods, and nature-based tourism.
Katelyn received a Bachelor's degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from University of California, Santa Cruz in 2013, and continued her immersion into marine systems during countless hours spent as a marine educator, dive master, and subtidal ecologist. Inspired by the human dimension of natural resource management, she obtained a Professional Science Master’s degree in Environmental Science with a focus in social science from Oregon State University in 2021. In her free time you can find her exploring her backyard in the Eastern Sierra by foot, bike, kayak, or snowboard with her adventure pup.
