The mission of the Center for Ocean Art, Science, and Technology (COAST) is to create an interdisciplinary center that highlights innovative ocean research while using ocean-inspired art to communicate the value of that research to the public. Programmatic development focuses on exploring ways in which science and the arts can help society confront challenges to the Earth’s climate and oceans while simultaneously educating current and future generations. Our primary goal is to provide an interdisciplinary convening place where scientists, artists, writers, students and visitors will be inspired to work together as they explore the impacts of a changing climate on the ocean’s biology, chemistry, physics, and relationship with humanity.
